The SEND Code of Practice is statutory guidance for organisations that work with and support children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. All schools must have regard to the guidance when taking decisions relating to pupils with SEN or disabilities

Module 1: Background and context of the current SEND Code of Practice

In module 1 you will learn about the history behind the current code of practice and the relevant polices and legislation that have shaped the core principles it promotes.

Module 2: Current context of the SEND Code of Practice

In module 2, you will learn about the current context around the current code of practice and the key changes that took place between 2014 and 2015, including a change in focus and emphasis and the importance of taking a multi-agency approach.

Module 5: Parental Engagement and the Local Offer

The final module will cover the importance of parental engagement during any decision-making involving children with SEND. It will also explore what the Local Offer is and the type of information that must be accessible to parents in their area.
