This course provides you with the knowledge and skills to meet your statutory requirements and understand your role as the lead practitioner for child protection and safeguarding in your setting.

Designated safeguarding practitioners and leads in nurseries and early years settings must attend a child protection training course that enables them to identify, understand and respond appropriately to signs of possible abuse and neglect.

Developed by Lorna Ponambalum, independent safeguarding and inclusion consultant, this course provides you with the knowledge and skills to meet your statutory requirements and understand your role as the lead practitioner for child protection and safeguarding in your setting.

Please note: The DSL training course for nursery staff consists of learning through video, task completion, and further reading/research. Please consider this when planning and allocating your time. To successfully understand and achieve the objectives of the course, learners are expected to engage in all aspects of the learning process and complete all relevant activities to ensure they can successfully apply the knowledge and skills they have gained in their own settings.
