About the Course

About the Course

Duration: 35 minutes (approx.)

All schools have a duty to comply with their legal requirements for the prevention and control of infection falling under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and its associated regulations. It is crucial that your staff can recognise, follow, and implement the correct procedures to prevent or control infection, particularly with the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This essential CPD course provides you with the core content you need to ensure you are equipped to prevent and limit the spread of infection and illness in the workplace and understand the importance of maintaining hygiene standards at work.

Split into bite-size modules, the training has been designed to provide maximum learning potential in the leanest, most cost-effective and time-efficient manner. It has been produced in high-quality remote video CPD format, which is accessible on any device, anytime, anywhere.

Delivered by qualified emergency medical technician, Samantha Kendall, the course has been divided into six modules with a knowledge assessment at the end to help you evidence your learning.

Designed in line with the following policies:

  • COVID-19: Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Regulations 2020
  • Health and Social Care Act 2008
  • The Public Health (Infectious Diseases) Regulations 1988
  • The Public Health (Control of Diseases) Act 1984
  • Health and Safety at Work Act 1974

Learning outcomes:

  • Understanding what infections are, what causes them and how they most commonly spread.
  • Understanding the legal requirements around infection control and prevention measures in the schools and the responsibilities on school leaders to protect staff and pupils.
  • Recognising how to respond to and manage an incident related to poisoning and what symptoms to look out for.
  • Acknowledging the importance of correct infection control policy and process, communicating clearly and ensuring an effective approach to keeping everyone safe.
  • Identifying the role of personal hygiene and proper hygiene practices in combatting infection and learning basic techniques for putting on and removing PPE.
