Module 1: Why is Safeguarding Children Important?
In module 1, you will understand why safeguarding children is important, recognise the difference between safeguarding and child protection and explore how children’s rights are protected by The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
Module 2: Safeguarding Legislation and Guidance
In module 2, you will learn about the core legislation and statutory guidance that you must and should know in relation to safeguarding children. This includes the Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 and Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE) 2020.
Module 3: Categories of Child Abuse and Their Impact
Module 3 will discuss the different types of abuse children may be subject to. You will learn of the different signs to look out for but also what potential risk factors may increase the likelihood of abuse and how this abuse might impact on a child.
Module 4: Recognition, Response and Report
Module 4 will discuss the importance of early recognition and prevention of harm and abuse. It will provide you with key steps to follow around responding and reporting child welfare concerns as well as what staff should do when reporting concerns about other staff members.
Module 5: Information Sharing and Record Keeping
In Module 5 you will learn about your obligations in relation to information sharing and the importance of following correct procedures. It will also provide you with seven golden rules that should be remembered to ensure decisions are made swiftly and within the right frameworks.
Module 6: Remote Safeguarding
In module 6, you will explore the challenges around remote safeguarding and your statutory duties that fall in line with children who may be learning in a remote environment. It will also provide you with practical advice and guidance around safeguarding remote learners online.
