About the Course

All early years providers must comply with requirements of health and safety legislation including fire safety and hygiene requirements to keep children safe and maintain a premises compliant with health and safety guidelines.

Developed Anne Cathie, this Essential CPD course will give you the knowledge and skills to stay compliant with health and safety requirements, discussing relevant real-world case studies to best prepare you and your staff to ensure the safety of the young children in your care.

Module 1: Legislation

This module will explore the key statutory guidance that must be followed in order to be compliant with regulations in an early years setting.

Module 2: Developing a health and safety policy

This module covers how to develop a health and safety, looking at writing an effective policy specifically for an early years setting.

Module 3: Risk assessments

This module will explore guidance around risk assessments and what those in an early years setting need to understand to carry them out effectively.

Module 4: Carrying out risk assessments

This module breaks down the process of risk assessments so that those in an early years setting are equipped to carry them out effectively and efficiently for all activities throughout the school year.

Module 5: Safe risk-taking

This module focuses on how to ensure how you give pupils a safe space in which to take risks that support their learning and development.

Module 6: Making sensible judgements

This module covers making sensible judgements around risk as well as health and safety to provide the best possible environment for young pupils.
