Teach Secondary had five categories at the heart of secondary teaching and learning – curriculum impact, assessment, safeguarding, SEND and CPD – and compiled a shortlist of 30 finalists; six per category.
Alex Forbes is the current Head of Curriculum Development in a high achieving inner city academy in Manchester. He is responsible for the selection, development and delivery of a range of new academic and vocational subjects, including ensuring that his current school meets the new Ofsted requirements for curriculum. His focus is on continually improving curriculum offering to ensure his school meets the unique needs of every student, supporting them in fulfilling their ambitions and being the best that they can be, regardless of background, special needs or disability.
Alex started his career as a consultant in the Banking & Finance arena before moving into education through the Teach First programme in 2011. He has a background in Economics and a MA in Educational Leadership. He has conducted research into developing curriculums to improve the development of mindsets, leadership of self and character traits. Alex also has a longstanding commitment with the University of Manchester through guest lecturing in their PGCE programme.
