Teach Secondary had five categories at the heart of secondary teaching and learning – curriculum impact, assessment, safeguarding, SEND and CPD – and compiled a shortlist of 30 finalists; six per category.
Prof David Putwain has 20+ years teaching and researching in the field of psychology. In 2006 he completed a PhD exploring the stress and anxiety experienced by students preparing for their GCSE examinations and has continued to the research how psychological factors influence, and in turn are influenced by learning and achievement. He has a particular interest in the factors that lead students to experience test and exams as anxiety-provoking, how this influences their performance, and in turn how anxiety can be effectively managed. He currently works at Liverpool John Moores University.
