Teach Secondary had five categories at the heart of secondary teaching and learning – curriculum impact, assessment, safeguarding, SEND and CPD – and compiled a shortlist of 30 finalists; six per category.
Matthew Burton is the Headteacher at Thornhill Community Academy in Wakefield, and one of the UK’s most recognisable teachers. He rose to prominence as an English Teacher in 2013 after starring in Channel 4’s multi award-winning documentary series Educating Yorkshire.
Since then, Matthew has travelled up and down the country to host workshops on teaching and school leadership, appearing as a keynote speaker at events such as The Professional Learning Conference at the Telford International Centre in 2019.
He is also the author of Go Big, a children’s ‘survival guide’ written to help students aged 10 and over with the transition from primary to secondary education.
