Introducing #WebinarWednesday! Every Wednesday we will be launching a new and exclusive hot topic webinar, in line with the latest policy and best practice in education. This week, we're launching 'Effective Safeguarding Arrangements for Pupils with SEND' in collaboration with the National Children's Bureau.
Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission are placing schools and educational providers under greater scrutiny to make sure that they have the correct policies and provision in place for children with special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities.
The Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE) 2019 statutory guidance from the Department for Education makes it clear that governing bodies and proprietors must ensure that their child protection policy reflects the needs of children with SEND. Schools must be aware that additional barriers can exist in respect of recognising abuse and neglect and that staff, in particular DSLs, should receive regular training.
This webinar, in collaboration with the National Children’s Bureau, will help DSLs, Deputy DSLs, SENCOs and school leaders responsible for safeguarding to understand the legal framework around safeguarding pupils with SEND and identifying methods of best practice.
