This webinar will support headteachers, subject leads and teaching staff to gain an early review of the Ofqual consultation for additional exams set to run in autumn 2021 in order to prepare for the proposed arrangements and engage in the feedback process.
On the 17th March 2021, Ofqual published their open ‘Consultation on arrangements for an autumn 2021 exam series’. It follows the DfE’s decision to give students the opportunity to take GCSEs, AS, A levels and the Advanced Extension Award exams in autumn 2021 if they wish to try and improve on their teacher assessed summer grades. The consultation process closes on 9th April and aims to seek views on how these exams should be run.
In this webinar, The National College will provide an in-depth review of the proposals to help support schools’ understanding of what Ofqual are looking to implement, what that is likely to mean for staff and pupils and the importance of participating in the consultation process.
Understanding how Ofqual are looking to define eligibility criteria, methods of assessment and their approach to art and design qualifications.
Recognising what Ofqual propose for how exams should be taken and the form they should take, including their decision on providing advance information for the autumn.
Clarifying the intention for when exams should be held and the timelines set out for GCSEs, AS and A levels through the autumn term.
Understanding what steps Ofqual have taken in respect of the likely impact on persons who share particular protected characteristics and the regulatory impact on schools.
Recognising the importance of staff and pupils engaging in the consultation process and providing their views in order to help shape how autumn examination will run.
