This webinar will provide headteachers, governors and all school staff with expert insight into the DfE’s revised guidance on behaviour in schools, helping to establish a whole-school approach which sets high expectations of behaviour, and calm and supportive environments which are conducive to learning.

On 13 July 2022, the DfE published ‘Behaviour in schools: advice for headteachers and school staff’, which provides guidance on the different responses to behaviour that schools can use, including sanctions and pastoral approaches, and the related legal duties of headteachers, and members of staff. The publication is a companion piece to newly revised statutory guidance ‘Suspension and permanent exclusion from maintained schools, academies and pupil referral units in England, including pupil movement’, and both come into force on 1 September 2022.

In this webinar, Jayne Robinson, school Leader and SCITT tutor whose 25 years’ experience includes the role of NQT mentor, will undertake a walk through the new guidance, highlighting the importance of prevention and early intervention to avoid the recurrence of misbehaviour, and the powers of staff when responding to misbehaviour.
