About the Webinar

Webinar Duration: 74 minutes (approx.)

This webinar will provide headteachers, curriculum leaders, subject leaders, teachers and practitioners with advice and practical guidance on whole-school delivery of a broad and balanced primary curriculum which facilitates education recovery.

In planning for the new academic year, schools will be considering how to adjust their curriculum so that it aligns with Ofsted’s expectations and also addresses gaps in knowledge and learning loss, in accordance with DfE non-statutory guidance, after disruption to schooling this year.

In this webinar, Susan Ogier, Senior Lecturer in Primary Education and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, University of Roehampton, London, will provide a definition of the term ‘broad and balanced curriculum’, and provide practical advice in designing and delivering a curriculum informed by established principles and aligned with government guidance.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understanding how to take a whole-school approach to delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum for education recovery, aligned with government guidance.

  • Gaining an insight into the meaning of the term ‘broad and balanced curriculum’ and how this translates into best classroom practice.

  • Appreciating the implications of the guidance for curriculum delivery from September 2021 in practical terms for early years and primary phases.

  • Recognising the needs of both children and staff in the preparation of a broad and balanced curriculum for education recovery.

  • Being able to identify evidence-based best practice and resources which best support pupil development and academic attainment.
