About the Webinar

This webinar will provide primary school leaders, curriculum leads, subject leads and teachers with practical advice and guidance on mapping their curriculum to comply with Ofsted expectations.

With the current academic year significantly disrupted by COVID-19, many primary schools will now be turning their attention to ensuring they have the best possible start in September.

Under the new Ofsted Education Inspection Framework (EIF), there is a greater emphasis on primary schools to evidence the planning that goes into their curriculum. The new ‘quality of education’ judgement means that Ofsted will focus more of their attention on what schools are teaching, rather than outcomes, through their criteria under ‘Intent.’

In this webinar, we will explore how effective curriculum planning can help primary schools to evaluate their current educational intent and support the progress of learners. You will also learn practical steps that you can take to help you meet Ofsted standards and their ‘quality of education’ measure.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand curriculum mapping and how it can support compliance with the new EIF

  • Identifying practical strategies for planning and mapping in preparation for inspections around assessing curriculum intent

  • Recognise the importance of rationale, curriculum concepts and ambition in understanding Ofsted indicators

  • Developing a process that identifies the extent of knowledge and skills coverage in the curriculum as well as depth

  • Understand the importance of sequencing content and knowledge progression in respect of curriculum design

Reflecting on our new curriculum

I watched this straight after leading some training for our staff about how to plan for our recently renewed curriculum. It was a great opportunity for me to write down loads of questions that I can now take back to school and use during the year as we evaluate and monitor the work we have been doing.
