About the Webinar

This webinar will provide senior leaders, headteachers and subject leads with practical advice and guidance on developing and implementing effective summer catch up plans for primary schools.

On the 19th June, the government announced a £1bn catch-up package for schools to help children catch up with what they have missed due to school closures. This is in response to the coronavirus pandemic which will compound ‘summer learning loss’ and contribute to a widening gap in children’s learning and more disadvantaged children falling further behind.

In this webinar, education expert and leadership and management trainer, Michelle Howard, explains how schools can implement successful summer catch up plans which support and prepare children academically, socially and emotionally for a return to the classroom post COVID-19.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understanding the importance and significance of developing summer catch up plans and how they will benefit pupils in both the short and long term.

  • Identifying the aims of summer catch up plans and developing a strategy which will impact and help improve academic attainment.

  • Practical advice and guidance on progressing summer catch up plans, effective implementation and supporting disadvantaged learners.

  • Recognising the benefits of working with partners to enable academic, social and emotional progression.

  • Developing catch up plans which help address wider considerations, including physical and mental health and wellbeing.
