This webinar will provide headteachers, senior leaders and teachers with practical advice on delivering the 2-year induction for early career teachers (ECTs) and the DfE-funded training in accordance with the latest DfE guidance, based on the early career framework (ECF) that is now part of statutory induction.

On 13 April 2022, the DfE published Induction, training and support for early career teachers (ECTs), which provides new guidance on how the ECF supports induction; funding and eligibility criteria for ECF-based training; and specific guidance for schools, ECTs and mentors.

In this webinar, Jayne Robinson, school Leader and SCITT tutor whose 25 years’ experience includes roles as NQT mentor and EYFS lead, sets the guidance in the context of the wider ECF Reforms, and highlights what schools need to know and do to fulfil their statutory duties.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understanding how to implement the two-year ECT induction process and ECF-based training, and develop teaching knowledge, skills and working habits in compliance with the ECF.

  • Gaining insight into changes to statutory induction for ECTs, including the timeline for the early and national roll-out of changes.

  • Appreciating how DfE funding for training based on the ECF works, and which schools, ECTs and mentors are eligible for funding.

  • Understanding the duties of school leaders and induction tutors in delivering training based on the ECF, as part of induction for ECTs.

  • Appreciating what the ECT is entitled to as part of the package of training and support, and the mentor’s role in supporting the induction process.
