About the Webinar

Webinar Duration: 50 minutes (approx.)

This webinar will provide headteachers, senior school leaders and governors with expert insight into the Education Endowment Foundation’s recommendations on improving behaviour in schools to inform the development of an effective, evidence-based behaviour strategy.

Misbehaviour can be a cause of ongoing stress for both experienced and new teachers, impacting teacher retention, disrupting lessons and affecting pupil attainment overall. Even in schools where behaviour is generally good, there is a strong need to have in place a clear and consistent strategy to promote and maintain positive behaviour.

In this webinar, Megan Dixon, specialist literacy teacher and senior leader who has worked closely with the EEF, DfE and Ofsted, explores in turn the EEF’s six recommendations for improving behaviour and explains how the theory can be translated into practice to enhance behaviour and outcomes in specific settings.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understanding how to implement an evidence-based behaviour strategy in specific settings based on the EEF’s six recommendations for improving behaviour in schools.

  • Recognising the range of behaviours covered by the guidance, including disruptive, aggressive, prosocial and learning behaviours.

  • Gaining insight into proactive measures that can be deployed at classroom level to deter poor behaviour and reduce the need for reactive measures.

  • Being able to implement reactive measures to support pupils where they have misbehaved or have chronic behavioural issues.

  • Appreciating the importance of consistent application of behavioural measures across the school and which engage the whole-school community.
