The cancellation of exams this year due to covid-19 has meant that schools and colleges must use other evidence-based methods of student performance to help Ofqual determine a centre assessment grade.

For many teachers, this will mean an increase in workload. It will also open the door to unconscious bias and raise the question of how to ensure a uniform process across all schools and colleges and a level of standardisation. It is also unclear how covid-19 may affect exams moving forward.
