About the Webinar

Webinar Duration: 48 minutes (approx.)

This webinar will support headteachers, subject leads and teaching staff to gain an understanding of proposed arrangements for exams and assessments in 2022 so that they can engage in the feedback process and make advance preparations.

On the 12 July 2021, the DfE announced publication of proposed arrangements for GCSEs, AS and A Levels for summer 2022 and vocational, technical and other general qualifications for 2021-22, and opened consultation to students, parents and teachers. The consultation processes, which close on 1 August and 26 July 2021 respectively, seek views on how exams and assessments should be run.

In this webinar, John Rees, experienced teacher, trainer and consultant with more than 25 years educational leadership experience will provide an in-depth review of the proposals to support schools’ understanding of arrangements, the implications for staff and pupils and the importance of participating in the consultation process.

Learning Outcomes

  • Gaining an insight into proposed arrangements for exams and assessment in 2022 to inform schools' response and advance preparations.

  • Appreciating the rationale behind proposed arrangements for specific subject areas in light of disruption to education over the past 18 months.

  • Understanding choices of topic for some subjects, changes to delivery of practical activities and assessments, and advance information on the content of exams.

  • Understanding measures proposed to mitigate the impact of arrangements on pupils who share particular protected characteristics and the regulatory impact on schools.

  • Recognising the importance of engaging in the consultation process and providing views in order to help shape how exams and assessments will run.
