About the Webinar

Webinar Duration: 48 minutes (approx.)

This webinar will provide headteachers, school leaders, teachers and practitioners with expert insight into the latest Ofsted guidance on inspection practice for the EYFS in schools which reflect the revised EYFS framework that came into force on 1 September 2021.

On 15 December 2021, Ofsted updated their ‘Ofsted EIF inspections and the EYFS’ guidance to help clarify Ofsted expectations and answer common questions around delivering the new EYFS reforms, EYFS curriculum implementation and the overall inspection process for the EYFS in schools.

In this webinar Matt Bromley, education writer and adviser with over twenty years’ experience as a teacher, headteacher and principal, will explore the key updates to the guidance, what these changes mean for providers and what key elements Ofsted will focus on during their inspections.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understanding Ofsted expectations around curriculum mapping and how to expand, extend and broaden EYFS education programmes.

  • Clarifying Ofsted expectations with respect to the delivery of an ambitious and well-sequenced curriculum and how settings are expected to use ‘Development matters’.

  • Recognising common misconceptions around curriculum planning, pupil assessment and the Ofsted inspection process and confirming how progress will be judged.

  • Understanding what inspectors will be looking for during deep dives, their expectations around the national curriculum and when school should start teaching early reading.

  • Understanding Ofsted’s stance on modifications and disapplications of the EYFS and their expectations on how settings deliver COVID-safe provision.
