About the Webinar

Webinar Runtime: 60 Minutes

This webinar will provide headteachers, senior leaders, HR managers and governors with practical guidance on developing and implementing a flexible working policy, according to best practice principles and as part of a wider wellbeing strategy for staff at all career stages.

The delicate act of balancing the operational needs of the school with those of employees might well deter school leaders from fully embracing flexible working arrangements. And yet, evidence from the DfE suggests that adopting a whole-school approach to flexible working can bring schools a range of benefits.

In this webinar, co-founder of Flexible Teacher Talent, Lucy Rose explains how schools can formulate a single and consistent flexible working policy which meets the needs of their specific setting and staff, identifies examples of best practice and highlights resources which schools can adapt and adopt for their own flexible working approach.

Learning Outcomes

  • Gaining an insight into the various working arrangements which count as flexible working in educational settings.

  • Understanding employers’ and employees’ legal rights and responsibilities which should underpin a flexible working policy.

  • Appreciating evidence that, despite the unique needs of schools as workplaces, schools can overcome the challenges of flexible working.

  • Being able to incorporate examples of best practice into school policy to enhance staff wellbeing and the wider school community.

  • Identifying a range of resources upon which schools can draw to inform a whole-school approach to flexible working.
