About the Webinar

This webinar will provide senior leaders, subject leads and teachers with practical advice and guidance on developing assessment methods to effectively support their pupils.

COVID-19 will have affected every pupil differently. Therefore, it is important that teachers are able to accurately assess pupil’s wellbeing and learning needs in order to provide them with more targeted support and high-quality feedback on their return to school.

In this webinar, Michael Chiles, Principal Examiner, school leader and author of The CRAFT of Assessment, will discuss how schools can develop efficient and effective assessment methods without bias, build robust feedback mechanisms and successfully monitor pupil progress.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understanding how to successfully implement pupil assessments which aim to identify particular areas of need and build on secure foundations.

  • Recognising how schools can provide effective support through high-quality feedback.

  • Understanding where standardised assessments in literacy and numeracy can help identify where pupils may need additional catch-up support.

  • Identifying how to develop well-led and clearly defined approaches to assessment in order to accurately assess pupil progress.

  • Developing targeted support methods which complement and enhance classroom teaching and learning.

Great Tips...

A brilliant reminder, refresher, new tips and great way to get back in focus and remind myself what matters. Thank you. Will definitely be investing more in home to school investments with feedback and bringing that to our department meetings.
Lian Wilde - Swanmore College Of Technology

Great

This was useful to revisit. Thanks
Tanya Coceal - Maidenhall Primary School

Feedback and Targeted support

The webinar focused on high quality marking with the necessary feedback in order to give support and raise attainment. Long-winded and wordy feedback is discouraged, and rather more detailed and specific ways that children can raise their standard and attainment.
Leonore Steyn - Maidenhall Primary School

A wealth of information

Love these Webinars lots of food for thought. It is a lot to take in but it is quite concise and to the point. very helpful
Samantha Monrose - Maidenhall Primary School

Feedback

Some interesting ideas but a bit monotonous.
Heather Thomas - Sir John Thursby Community College

A whistle stop tour of all the effective feedback methods

I have watched another subject specific based online video with Michael Chiles before that was good; however this one raised the bar. It made me reflect on my own practice as I watched, and there is a lot in this that could be embedded in my own teaching; but also developed for our staff. A really informative, and good summary, which also makes good recommendations of other areas of reading.
Rachael Norris - Joseph Whitaker School
