About the Webinar

This webinar will provide primary school senior leaders and teaching staff with practical advice and guidance around engaging parents and carers in effective home learning.

The closure of schools for the foreseeable future has seen a huge shift in focus towards remote learning. Moving from a classroom environment to studying at home requires discipline and it’s inevitable that successful parental involvement will be key to a smooth period of transition.

In this webinar, curriculum design expert, Alex Morrill, and specialist leader of education, Kate McCabe, explore the key areas that schools should consider around home schooling, challenges they may face and how a flexible approach to remote learning can help implementation and facilitation.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understanding the dynamics of home learning for primary school children and the different aspects to consider

  • Recognising the benefits in effective communication with parents and practical advice on engaging them and providing support

  • Facilitating teaching and learning remotely and recognising how and where parents can make a significant difference

  • Understanding what a ‘good’ curriculum/timetable looks like and overcoming potential challenges

  • Identifying what is realistically achievable and the limits of home schooling in primary years
