About the Webinar

This webinar will help governors, school leaders, head teachers and SENCOs to understand what Ofsted will inspect around their current provision for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

The new Ofsted EIF states that Ofsted will:

  • Look to make a judgement on whether leaders have devised a curriculum that gives SEND children the needs, knowledge and cultural capital to succeed in life.

In addition, the House of Commons Education Committee ‘Special educational needs and disabilities report 2019’ recommended that:

  • There must be greater oversight and a more rigorous inspection framework with clear consequences for failure. There should be a greater focus on SEND in school inspections.

In this webinar, SEND subject matter expert, Karen Pilling, discusses Ofsted’s inspection criteria and the type of evidence they will look to collate around your school’s approach to SEND.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the Ofsted EIF and the principles and judgements in relation to SEND

  • Recognise what to expect on the day and the criteria Ofsted will look to meet

  • Identify the evidence collection strategy for Ofsted and touchpoints they will inspect

  • Understand how Ofsted view data, curriculum development and exclusions or alternative provision

  • Learn actionable tips and identify further reading and sources of support
