This webinar will provide headteachers, senior leaders, SENCOs, designated safeguarding leads and teaching staff with an overview of Ofsted’s research into experiences of children and young people with SEND and their families during the pandemic.

On 16 June 2021, Ofsted published their ‘SEND: old issues, new issues, next steps’ report. It reflects on their findings following visits to local areas in autumn 2020 and spring 2021 in which interviews were carried out with parents and carers of children and young people with SEND, along with the education, health and social care practitioners who worked with them. The research was carried out within the context of SEND reforms over the last 10 years.

In this webinar Faye Whittle, SEND advisor and inclusion consultant with over 20 years’ experience working in educational settings, will provide an insight into Ofsted’s report, exploring how SEND provision has evolved since 2010, what families’ experiences during the pandemic were and potential next steps to secure the very best provision and outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
