About the Webinar

This webinar will provide senior leaders, headteachers, subject leads and curriculum leads with practical advice and guidance on how to deliver effective lesson observations during remote learning.

Teacher evaluation is one of the many challenges that schools continue to face in their response to COVID-19 and in light of an increasing shift towards remote education and blended learning. In order for teachers to consistently provide high levels of performance in the classroom, it’s important that they receive feedback that is developmental, supportive and meaningful.

In this webinar, Michael Chiles, Principal Examiner, school leader and author of The CRAFT of Assessment, explores how schools can successfully implement lesson observations as part of their remote education practice and provide effective feedback that helps teachers to continue their development and growth.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understanding how schools can implement practical strategies for effective observations in remote settings.

  • Recognising the importance of planning lesson observations that are clearly defined and provided constructive feedback that is timely, ongoing and consistent.

  • Identifying practical techniques and different models of effective lesson observations to remote education and the key considerations that should be evaluated.

  • Understanding additional factors that may need to be considered when evaluating remote learning and delivering a holistic approach to the observation process.

  • Recognising the importance of effective communication throughout the lesson observation process and ensuring a level of shared understanding and expectations.
