Webinar Runtime: 60 Minutes

This webinar will equip headteachers, school leaders, mental health leads and teachers with a range of approaches to facilitate the health and wellbeing of all pupils as in-school provision and social interaction are resumed after a period of remote education.

As all children return back to school on the 8th March, it’s important that schools consider how children will have been affected emotionally during their time off. Social isolation has meant many children will have been deprived of social interaction and the constant uncertainty, loss of control and disruption to normal support networks can lead to increased levels of anxiety and stress.

In this webinar, mental health and wellbeing expert Anna Bateman explores what signs of distress schools should look out for as children return to the classroom, the benefits and importance of reconnection and how staff can support vulnerable pupils and help establish emotional literacy.

  • Understanding how children may have been emotionally impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic including secondary stressors and more long-term effects.

  • Recognising the importance of providing emotional support as a trusted adult, giving children time and helping to reduce the impact of distress.

  • Understanding how best to support pupils who have experienced bereavement and talking through a staged approach to building emotional literacy through a real case study.

  • Identifying the next steps that schools can take, making the most of the available support and how to ensure you deliver a pupil-led approach to emotional recovery.
