About the Webinar

Webinar Duration: 50 minutes (approx.)

This webinar will provide governors, headteachers and school leaders with an insight into the government’s response to their consultation on proposed changes to complete reforms to school funding and move to a more “direct” schools national funding formula (NFF).

On 28 March 2022, the DfE published their response to the consultation on completing their reforms to the National Funding Formula. The consultation sought views on the approach to reforming the NFF and how the government most effectively transitions away from the use of local formulae to all schools’ funding allocations being determined directly by the NFF in the years ahead. The DfE plan to publish a second stage consultation with more detailed proposals in Spring 2022.

This webinar will explain the government’s response to the consultation, confirm the overall approach they will aim to take and outline their commitment to implementing reforms that will provide greater consistency, transparency and simplicity in funding arrangements for schools.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understanding how the new measures will seek to benefit all schools and provide assurance that funding is based on a consistent assessment of need, rather than location.

  • Recognising what main themes from the consultation arose and how these will look to shape proposals and actions moving forward.

  • Identifying how schools responded to the original consultation across each area and what the government has considered or is committing to as part of their response.

  • Understanding how the findings from the original consultation have shaped the DfE’s approach to developing the NFF, growth, transition, schools services and consistent funding.

  • Recognising what the next steps in delivering and implementing a more “direct” schools NFF are and how the government will aim to start the transition process,
