This webinar will provide governors, headteachers and school leaders with an expert insight into Ofsted’s report on how schools improve and maintain attendance using use different approaches and tackle the challenges they face.

On 7 February 2022 Ofsted published their research on securing good attendance and tackling persistent absence in schools. The report highlights common features that leaders tend to implement in order to improve attendance from a low baseline, maintain high levels of attendance and minimise persistent absence.

In this webinar, Donna Moran, associate Headteacher with extensive attendance and punctuality experience in inner-city schools, will help schools to understand and overcome the challenges leading to higher-than-average absences, what strategies leaders are using to build high expectations and the questions they are continually asking to successfully deliver good attendance.

  • Understanding the continuous challenges that schools have been facing with respect to pupil absence and the main sources of anxiety for children and parents.

  • Recognising the ways that schools are systematically removing barriers to attendance and the approaches they are taking to dealing with common anxieties.
