About the Webinar

Webinar Duration: 1 hour 20 minutes (approx.)

This webinar will provide governors, headteachers, senior leaders and Ofsted leads with an expert insight into what Ofsted inspectors will consider as part of the Social care common inspection framework (SCCIF) for boarding schools and residential special schools.

On 1 October 2021 Ofsted updated their ‘Social care common inspection framework (SCCIF): boarding schools and residential special schools’ guidance in order to clarify revised arrangements for aligned inspections. It followed previous updates this year with respect to assurance visits and changes to Ofsted’s post-inspection processes and complaints handling.

In this webinar, Christina Leath, experienced Head of Safeguarding and subject matter expert on safeguarding children, will guide schools through the latest information and guidance provided by Ofsted, provide an expert overview of Ofsted’s judgement criteria and explore the way schools can prepare for the inspection process from start to finish.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understanding Ofsted’s inspection principles and what the focus of their inspections will be, including how they anticipate achieving their aims.

  • Recognising how inspectors will make their judgements under the SCCIF and understanding the evaluation criteria across each area.

  • Identifying the steps involved in the inspection process, including information around the notice of inspection, scheduling and different types of visits.

  • Understanding how to prepare for an inspection and what inspectors will examine; what activities they will evaluate; and who they will speak to, during their visits.

  • Strengthening knowledge on what actions will be taken following the inspection visit and what is expected of inspectors with respect to their conduct.
