About the Webinar

Webinar Duration: 45 minutes (approx.)

This webinar will provide headteachers, senior leaders, Ofsted leads and governors with an expert run-through and understanding of the key policy changes and updates to guidance and legislation that Ofsted will consider as part of their inspections during the 2021-22 academic year.

On 9 September 2021, Ofsted published their ‘Schools and early education update: academic year 2021 to 2022’ guidance to provide inspectors and education professionals with the latest information about Ofsted's inspection work in schools and early education settings. The guidance consolidates the raft of changes published by the DfE and Ofsted over the last 12 months that inspectors and school leaders need to be aware of.

In this webinar, Stefan Fusenich, teacher educator and DfE subject learning coach, will guide schools through the information and guidance provided by Ofsted, help explain what the implications are for inspectors and support senior leaders to best prepare themselves for the new academic year.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understanding the main revisions to the school inspection handbooks and how Ofsted will consider curriculum catch-up after COVID-19, including the expectations on leaders.

  • Recognising Ofsted’s stance on sexual abuse in schools and colleges, and their remit with respect to evaluating the approaches schools should take to address issues head on.

  • Realising the changes to the Early career framework, the range of reforms introduced and what judgements Ofsted will consider this during their inspections.

  • Understanding the new arrangements for the engagement model, how schools are expected to use it and what key areas inspectors should consider.

  • Recognising the revisions to the EYFS statutory framework and implementation of the Reception Baseline Assessment and what, if any, impact this will have on inspections.
