Within a week, Ofsted released two reports with a focus on mental health. On the 22nd July, ‘Teacher well-being at work in schools and further education providers’ was published, detailing research on well-being in the education profession. Five days earlier, on 17th July, ‘Guidance for joint targeted area inspections on the theme: children’s mental health’ was jointly published providing guidance on evaluating local services responding to children living with mental ill health. This webinar will provide an expert overview of both documents and what they mean for schools. Targeted at the whole school community, it will pick out the key points from each report, their impact on mental health and safeguarding provision in schools and what future steps can be taken.

Interesting webinarIt was quite refreshing to see the focus of OFSTED inspections on the well-being of both staff and pupils. Having entered the profession of teaching later i have long since understood the need to focus on the whole child (young person). Whether or not the new inspection framework will actually make a difference to the lives of of some of the most vulnerable in society remains to be seen!Carolyn Hedley - University Academy Holbeach
