About the Webinar

Webinar Runtime: 57 Minutes

This webinar will help school leaders, governors and RSHE leads to understand how best to engage parents whilst implementing the statutory RSHE curriculum from September 2020.

The Relationships education, relationships and sex education (RSE) and health education 2019 statutory guidance states that:

  • Schools must consult parents in developing and reviewing their policy in relation to Relationships Education and RSE.
  • All schools should work closely with parents when planning and delivering these subjects, ensuring that parents know what will be taught and when.
  • Parents are made aware that they can request that their child be withdrawn from some or all of sex education delivered as part of statutory RSE.

With early adoption being encouraged now, Associate Headteacher and subject matter expert, Ian Noone, looks at how schools can meet their statutory RSHE requirements as well as exploring effective strategies for successfully engaging parents and managing their concerns.

Learning Outcomes

  • What must primary and secondary schools teach in relation to RSE

  • What are school’s statutory duties in relation to RSE policy development

  • Why must school’s engage parents and how this can benefit them

  • How can schools manage parent’s requests to opt their child out of RSE

  • Where can schools seek further advice and support
