About the Webinar

Webinar Duration: 65 minutes (approx.)

This webinar will provide headteachers, PSHE/RHE curriculum leaders, subject leaders, teachers and practitioners with a refresh of the statutory requirements under the RHE curriculum so that they can draw up an action plan in preparation for the new academic year.

Following the disruption caused by COVID-19 and the grace period afforded by the DfE, all schools will be expected to start teaching a comprehensive RHE/RSHE curriculum from September 2021 in line with their statutory requirements outlined in the DfE ‘Relationships education, relationships and sex education (RSE) and health education’ guidance.

In this webinar, John Rees, RSHE subject matter expert with over 25 years’ educational leadership experience, reviews schools’ statutory requirements around the RHE curriculum and helps schools to draw up an action plan in preparation for the new academic year.

Learning Outcomes

  • Being able to implement a comprehensive RHE curriculum in September 2021 which meets the requirements of the DfE’s statutory guidance.

  • Gaining an insight into new statutory requirements for RHE and understanding how this might impact schools’ existing policies.

  • Recognising that RHE interconnects with other curriculum subjects, including science and citizenship, and ensuring consistency in all areas.

  • Understanding the key elements of an action plan and checklist which addresses any gaps in current RHE/PSHE provision.

  • Being able to identify a range of further resources to develop RHE provision which meets the needs of the school’s specific setting.
