Webinar Duration: 1 hour 1 minute (approx.)
This webinar will provide headteachers, subject leads, teachers and teaching assistants with practical guidance and advice on developing and implementing measures in the classroom to support secondary age-pupils who are unable or struggle to read.
Whilst most pupils will leave primary school with the ability to read confidently, some children will enter secondary school with an inability to understand even the most basic text, severely reducing their chances of gaining any qualifications or enjoying a successful career. Worse still, staff can often struggle with attempts to engage pupils in the reading process, compounding the problem further.
In this webinar Carl Pattison, English Hub lead, Early Reading lead and independent literacy consultant, will explore how schools can identify, intervene in and resolve reading difficulties in older children, giving them the opportunity to experience the enjoyment that reading can bring and realise their full potential.
