About the Webinar

Webinar Duration: 67 minutes (approx.)

This webinar will provide EYFS school leaders, teachers and practitioners with an understanding of how to enhance physical development provision in line with the DfE’s reformed Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework and supportive curriculum guidance.

The DfE’s revised EYFS Framework will become statutory for all schools in September 2021. Early adopter schools are already adhering to the framework, supported by the recent DfE ‘Development Matters’ curriculum guidance, which sets out the pathways of children’s development, including physical development.

In this webinar, Debi Keyte-Hartland, an Early Years expert and TEDx speaker with over 25 years’ experience in the UK and international education sector, explains how schools can prepare for the new EYFS reforms in order to support children’s physical development, health, and social and emotional wellbeing.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understanding how to teach physical development in line with the EYFS Framework reforms and how they will impact current teaching and learning in early years.

  • Recognising the duties placed on schools under the revised EYFS Framework in terms of education programmes and early learning goals for physical development.

  • Developing a strategy for implementing changes to the school’s curriculum so that it is compliant with the EYFS Framework statutory requirements.

  • Understanding how schools can support children to develop their gross and fine motor experiences in order to meet developmental goals.

  • Identifying the characteristics of effective teaching and learning in physical development through early years enabling children to pursue happy, healthy and active lives.
