This webinar will provide headteachers, senior leaders, teachers and mental health leads with practical guidance on smoothing transition for the new Year 7 cohort in September, helping pupils overcome any feelings of uncertainty and apprehension which may be heightened this year as a result of the pandemic.

Whilst transition from the primary to secondary phase represents one of the biggest steps in education and will always bring with it an element of emotional upheaval, it is likely that such feelings might be exacerbated this year, as the whole school community has faced significant disruption to normality and schools have had less face-to-face opportunity to help pupils prepare for the next stage in their school career.

In this webinar, Anna Bateman, subject matter expert on mental health and wellbeing, who works in an advisory role for the DfE, will explore the emotional impact of the pandemic on pupils, and identify evidence-based strategies and techniques which schools can employ to help all pupils, including the most disadvantaged, to adapt to secondary education with resilience and confidence.
