Given the amount of time they spend with pupils, school staff are well positioned to spot the signs of child abuse. This is, however, a complex process: the signs may not necessarily be obvious and can vary, depending on the type of abuse. Young people may not fully understand the concept of abuse, fear the consequences of making a disclosure, and unusual behaviours may be attributable to other causes.

In this webinar, Robin Watts, international safeguarding expert and education consultant who has worked with schools worldwide, explains some common signs that should trigger concern for the welfare of young people, and the steps that school staff should take in immediate response.
